CSU Rams hire new track assistantPublished by
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Colorado State track & field Head Coach Brian Bedard announced Tuesday the hiring of Karim Abdel Wahab as the Rams’ assistant coach. Abdel Wahab takes over as the sprints and hurdles coach for John Carter, who resigned earlier this month.
“I am very excited to announce the hiring of Karim Abdel Wahab to coach the sprints and hurdles at Colorado State University,” said Bedard. “I have watched his work at the Colorado School of Mines and at the University of Northern Colorado and respect the job he has done at both institutions. Our staff has built a rapport with him over the years and we feel we are hiring not only a great coach with a passion for track and field, but also a friend. Karim will fit in well with the staff and athletes and hit the ground running with his coaching and recruiting athletes in the region and overseas.”
Abdel Wahab comes to Colorado State after four years as the sprints and hurdles coach at Northern Colorado. With the Bears, he helped the track team members set school records in the women’s indoor 60-meter dash, the women’s indoor 55- and 60-meter hurdles, and the men’s indoor 200-meter dash, as well as coaching several Big Sky Conference winners and finalists in the sprints, high hurdles and 4x100-meter relays.
Also with the Bears Abdel Wahab helped the first 100-meter and 200-meter men’s sprinters to qualify for the NCAA regional championship for the first time in Northern Colorado’s Division I history. Read the full article at: www.csurams.com
