Cross country recap: Rams sweep Wyoming Invitational for third straight season - COLORADO STATE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE

LARAMIE, Wyo. -- For the third consecutive year the Colorado State men's and women's cross country teams swept the Wyoming Invitational Friday.

The Rams started off strong placing six runners in the top ten in the womens 2.5 mile race. Ellie Keyser picked up where she left off last season winning the race with the time of 14 minutes, 16 seconds. Freshman Kaitlin Hanenburg (14:34) started her career with a bang finishing second only 18 seconds behind Keyser. Kendra Gerk (14:52), Sarah Heuer (15:02), Nicole Peters (15:04) and Becky Schmitt (15:05) all placed in the top ten resulting in the women's first place team finish. Utah Valley University finished second while the host Wyoming Cowboys took third.

Jake Keyser led the men to a first place finish with his second place time of 21:58 in the mens 4.25 mile race. Daniel Wallis finished strong taking fourth place. Colorado State beat out second place Wyoming and third place Utah Valley University for the top spot.

The Rams return home next week to host the Colorado State Invitational.
