The Boulder Marathon, which was scheduled for this Sunday at the Boulder Reservoir, has been postponed and a new date of Oct. 3 or after is being reviewed.

Firefighters working on the Fourmile Canyon wildfire have been camping at the reservoir's sites.

Race director Jeff Mason made the announcement this morning about the three events, which includes a half-marathon and 10K.

"Emails of support have come in from all corners of the country, and I want to thank all of you for keeping a positive outlook on this, and especially for keeping this situation in its proper perspective," Mason wrote on the event's website (bouldermarathon.com). "Once we have a reschedule date, we'll encourage our participants to bring items to donate to those who have been affected by the fire."

Mason said this weekend is not an option for the race. The course, which is not in the burn area, goes around Table Mountain on the east side of Highway 36. The Boulder Bike Classic, which was supposed to be Sunday, had to be canceled and will not be reschedule this year.
